A view into the continuing evolution of the niche-yet-global sport through the historical lens of Ohio Roller Derby, one of the founding leagues of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association Part sports autobiography, part cultural critique, this book offers the collective experience of a tenacious group of nontraditional athletes who play, officiate, plan, schedule, market, and manage the business of a (mostly) women's amateur sports team. This modern sport, with its alternative, punk rock culture, is often a place for those who've struggled within the mainstream. But even as the sport is often home for historically marginalized groups, such as the LGBTQ+ community, roller derby organizations and participants often mirror and experience the same inequities as those in the world surrounding them. In a full-contact, theatrical sport that some consider revolutionary, the authors show that gaining truly radical self-knowledge is an ongoing, difficult process that requires love, teamwork, discipline, critical consideration of one's local and global societies, and-above all else-one's place and action within them.

Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. When the unthinkable happened, Amy Spears didn't just lose her daughter and grandchildren-she lost the version of herself that once believed life made sense. In this raw, unflinching, and deeply human memoir, Amy takes readers through the wreckage of grief, the fight to reclaim meaning, and the haunting beauty of love that refuses to die. From surviving domestic violence and trauma to finding laughter in the darkest corners of sorrow, this is more than a story of loss-it's a testament to what endures. With piercing honesty and unexpected humor, What Love Left Behind weaves together stories of pain, survival, and the indestructible bonds between mother and child, between memory and legacy. This book is for anyone who's ever screamed into the silence, held on by a thread, or dared to believe that even in ruin-there is still something worth saving.Because grief doesn't end the story.Love does. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - As intelligent autonomous agents and multiagent system applications become more pervasive, it becomes increasingly important to understand the risks associated with using these systems. Incorrect or inappropriate agent behavior can have harmful - fects, including financial cost, loss of data, and injury to humans or systems. For - ample, NASA has proposed missions where multiagent systems, working in space or on other planets, will need to do their own reasoning about safety issues that concern not only themselves but also that of their mission. Likewise, industry is interested in agent systems that can search for new supply opportunities and engage in (semi-) automated negotiations over new supply contracts. These systems should be able to securely negotiate such arrangements and decide which credentials can be requested and which credentials may be disclosed. Such systems may encounter environments that are only partially understood and where they must learn for themselves which aspects of their environment are safe and which are dangerous. Thus, security and safety are two central issues when developing and deploying such systems. We refer to a multiagent system's security as the ability of the system to deal with threats that are intentionally caused by other intelligent agents and/or s- tems, and the system's safety as its ability to deal with any other threats to its goals.
