Title on spines & front covers: Boucher, Peintures I [and] Boucher, Peintures II. Title page omits "Peintures" and says "Avec la Collaboration de M. Daniel Wildenstein de l'Institut." A catalog raisonne and expansive treatment of the life and work of Rococo style artist Francois Boucher (1703-1770). Volume one starts with a "Tableau Chronologique" that begins with Boucher's birth; includes texts of letters, references and reviews; and ends with a critique by Maurice Serrulaz from an exhibition catalog in Paris in 1974. The second half of the volume begins the "Catalogue des Peintures." Each entry includes the origin, provenance, bibliography, and exhibition of the piece. The catalog continues in Volume two, where a comprehensive bibliography and detailed index conclude the set. A terrific reference. Each book measure 15.25" x 11.5" VG/VG-, wear and looseness to the dustjackets due to size of books and use.
