Soft cover. Condizione: Very Good. SIGNED BY LIL ANDERSON on title page; Clean, tight, unmarked; spine straight and uncreased; very minimal wear; Heartwarming tales of triumph and tears fill the pages of Pond Memories, Lil Anderson's second collection of experiences as a wildlife rehabilitator. With first-hand experience, Anderson recounts episodes of life with wild animals: enduring playfully intended but painful kicks from Brownie, a young bull moose who nearly died from pneumonia, having her overalls become the object of affection for Cameron, an amorous young beaver, and learning how to 'speak' deer with Persephone, a tiny, but fiercely independent fawn. In Pond Memories, Anderson brings her readers closer to the animal world, teaching respect for her patients' non-humanness, while showing that wild animals have their own ways of expressing love, joy, anger, and pain. Always mindful of the risk of imprinting on her wild charges, Anderson drives home the message that once helped and healed, these creatures must return to their natural habitat. Softcover. First Edition, First Printing. pp. 161. 8vo. Illustrated covers. Black-and-white, and colour photographs, illustrations. Appears unread; as new. "Wildlife rehabilitators, or wildlife custodians, as we are now called in Ontario, often do not have the opportunity to monitor the lives of their wards once they have been released to the wild. Sometimes that may be just as well, as even youngsters raised by their natural mothers often do not survive the first year of their lives or, for that matter, the first few months."So writes Lil Anderson, author of Pond Memories. Lil is well known in the Lake of the Woods area for her extensive wildlife rehabilitation work and in Pond Memories she recounts her experiences nurturing the creatures that people less skilled bring to her.Much of the action focuses on the antics of the menagerie in and around the pond on her property. (Originally dug for a young beaver named Eh.) Lil learns to cope with Brownie, a young bull moose who came to her half-drowned and suffering from pneumonia, and whose appetite for clay, squashed caterpillars, and rotting aquatic vegetation made Lil's stomach curdle.Lil also raises a kit vixen fox, who one day happily leaves the makeshift den Lil had built, but not before retrieving a stuffed toy she slept with. And no tale of animal rehab would be complete with the appearance of a new beaver kit called Cameron.Readers will enjoy the heart-warming story of Lil's life with creatures big and small, a life full of trials, triumphs, and heartbreak. This glimpse at the ways of Canadian wildlife reveals they are different from us, but not so much as we often imagine.".…

Aggiungi al carrello[1] pp.; 28 x 21.6 cm.; black-and-white; edition size unknown; unsigned and unnumbered; offset-printed; Flyer / announcement published to promote events held between 13th and 14th Streets and 6th and 5th Avenues, New York City, on April 18, 1969. Participating artists included Vito Hannibal Acconci, Terence Anderson, Arakawa, Gregory Battcock, Matthew Benedict, Michael Brownstein, Scott Burton, James Lee Byars, Rosemarie Castoro, Eduardo Costa, Bill Creston, Larry Fagin, Madeline Gins, John Giorno, Bobbi Gormley, Tom Gormley, Dan Graham, Katherine Greef, Stephen Kaltenbach, Joseph Kosuth, Leandro Katz, Alcides Lanzy, Lucy Lippard, Rosemary Mayer, Ben Patterson, John Perreault, Lil Picard, Adrian Piper, H Alexander Roberts, Marjorie Strider, Mr. T., Bernar Venet, Frank Lincoln Viner, Anne Waldman, Lewis Warsh, Luis Wells, Hannah Weiner and Lawrence Weiner. These organized street works can be understood as extensions of both the Pop art Happenings of the earlier 1960s and the street protests taking place in New York City and throughout the country during the 1968 elections, the Civil Rights Movement, and the Vietnam War. Whereas the Pop happenings usually took place in galleries and performance spaces, the street works were unconfined by physically walled-in spaces. Enacted in open environments, comingled with the natural flow of pedestrians, these performances created unlimited possibilities for happenstance with the sidewalk as the stage and the city as backdrop, the inhabitants of New York became active participants with the artists, willingly or not. Fair / Good. Folded in three and two tape stains. Name of recipient on verso in ink. …
