Issued without a dust jacket. -- In the history of Hungary, we can only speak of the existence of financial institutions for scarcely more than 150 years. Even so, the historical artefacts of their operation remain of value to museums and can be regarded as rare documents of the age and its economic history. The History of Finance Collection, established in the 1960s, is a rich store of these artefacts. Here we find written materials and objects, writing implements and calculating tools, office equipment, accessories and furnishings associated with the foundation of the first Hungarian banks and the operation of the numerous financial institutions that sprang up in the decades that followed. This collection of many thousands of items also safeguards and preserves for posterity numerous specialized publications, depositor's books and lottery tickets, certificates and manuscripts, coins, banknotes and money boxes, as well as antique securities, all presented here in a diverse selection. The aim of this volume is to show the variety, treasures and curiosities from the collection in the light of a number of small and large financial institutions and economic enterprises, and figures of the world of economy and finance in the 19th and 20th centuries.
