Leather spine perished with stitching and quires exposed lengthwise; front board detached as is first quire; rear board holding; darkened marbled paper over boards but with paper losses and strong rubbing/abrasion; board edges worn. Dark staining to text block edges. Nineteenth century ink writing on front free endpaper and on frontispiece's blank verso; modern pencil writing also on ffep; occasional pencil and ink marks amongst text; varied toning throughout with some soiling and staining. Text block binding stressed with some leaves and quires slightly pulled. Sold as is - should be rebound. Impressive frontispiece being a full-page copper plate engraving depicting Moses, Aaron, King David, and a Torah ark. Jpeg images gladly emailed upon request. Several of his academic works offer a historical slant on Biblical topics. The physician Johann Philipp Jordis (1658-1721/25) studied in Utrecht and practised in Frankfurt from 1685 onwards. - Browned throughout due to paper.
