Applications ofmicroarrays and subsequent gene expression analysisrange from the assignment of functional categoriesfor genes of unknown biological function, to preciseand early diagnosis of different tumor malignancies.Besides these, a central goal of computationalanalysis of gene expression data is the extraction ofregulatory knowledge at genetic level that may beused to provide a broader understanding on thefunctioning of complex cellular systems.
