La cuestión del «sentido» de la ley y de su interpretación, así como la ambigüedad de ciertos casos legales exigen una precisión de lo que debe ser el consenso sobre las «condiciones de la validez del derecho». Examinando el concepto de interpretación de Dworkin y sus bases epistemológicas, Marmor descubre una serie de incoherencias lógicas que pueden llevar a la teoría y la práctica del derecho a un relativismo peligroso que, en realidad, resulta innecesario desde el punto de vista lógico y lingüístico.
