Um visuell Licht in das kryptische Dunkel zu bringen, machte sich Danny Franzreb während der Boomphase von Kryptowährungen zwischen 2021-2022 auf eine einjährige Reise zu Minern, Investoren und Glücksrittern, die früh die Chancen dieser digitalen Währungen nutzen wollten. Die entstandene Arbeit dokumentiert mit eindrucksvollen Bildern Orte und Menschen, die sich in der Kryptowelt engagieren; vom kleinen Keller-Schürfer bis hin zu industriellen Mining-Farmen, von Installationen, Kühlaggregaten, Kabelwäldern und Industrieruinen in Russland bis zu den ersten High-Tech Fabriken mit nachhaltiger Produktion in Schweden. This text was the birth of a new paradigm, the blockchain. Based on Nakamoto's vision, people around the world created a new infrastructure that could be used to transfer assets, information, and much more. Since then, cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, or applications such as non-fungible tokens (NFTs) have become particularly well-known. But only insiders understand the exact contexts of these abstract terms. To visually shed light on the cryptic darkness, Danny Franzreb embarked on a year-long journey during the boom phase of cryptocurrencies between 2021-2022 to visit miners, investors, and fortune seekers who were early adopters of the opportunities offered by these digital currencies. The resulting work uses striking imagery to document places and people engaged in the crypto world-from small basement prospectors to industrial mining farms, or from installations, cooling units, cable forests, and industrial ruins in Russia to the first high-tech factories with sustainable production in Sweden. Der leibliche, erfahrbare Körper erscheint uns zunächst als natürliche Einheit, die von Geburt an existiert. Aber inwieweit ist diese Einheit durch unser biologisches Geschlecht festgesetzt Welche Zuschreibungen werden einem männlichen, welche dem weiblichen Körper zugeteilt Diese allgemeingültigen Fragen werden am Beispiel transsexueller Menschen besonders gut sichtbar: Wenn Transsexuelle sich in Deutschland für eine geschlechtsangleichende Operation entscheiden, müssen sie zunächst unter Beweis stellen, wie sicher sie sich ihrer Entscheidung sind. Psychologische Gutachten sollen gewährleisten, dass post-operative Patienten nicht eines Tages aufwachen und feststellen, dass die vorgenommene Operation ein Fehler war. Da diese Operationen irreversibel sind, hält der deutsche Staat seine 'schützende Hand' über Transsexuelle.Was auf der einen Seite zunächst als behütende Maßnahme plausibel scheint - Risiken müssen vor jedem operativen Eingriff erwogen werden - wird auf der anderen Seite als eine invasive und hinterfragungswürdige Intervention in das Privatleben von Transsexuellen erlebt. Bestehen Zweifel an der 'Ernsthaftigkeit' oder 'Echtheit' der Identität, kann die Operation abgelehnt werden. Was lässt sich aus diesem medizinisch-psychiatrisch indizierten Verfahren über das Verhältnis des Körpers zur Gesellschaft ableiten Inwieweit ist der Körper ein Zeichensystem unserer Identität Welche gesellschaftlichen Diskurse und Ängste spiegeln sich in ihm Zentral ist dabei die ethische Problemstellung, dass es sich bei der geschlechtsangleichenden Operation um einen chirurgisch schwerwiegenden Eingriff handelt, der aus medizinethischen Gesichtspunkten deshalb Probleme bereitet, da er einen Eingriff in einen anatomisch gesunden Körper bedeutet.Anhand einer Nachzeichnung des Prozesses von der Entscheidung des Transsexuellen bis hin zur Entscheidung der Psychotherapeuten soll aufgezeigt werden, wie diese Intervention des deutschen Staates funktioniert. Es soll dabei deutlich werden, dass die Grenze zwischen professioneller Entscheidung und Selbstbestimmung ständig neu und in jedem Einzelfall mit dem Patienten bestimmt werden muss.Unter Zuhilfenahme von Michel Foucaults Überlegungen zu Biopolitik und den Techniken des Selbst soll im Anschluss eine Bestandsaufnahme aufgestellt werden, die einen Einblick in die Ambivalenz von externer Bestimmung und internem Selbstmanagement ermöglicht.
