Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Condizione: New. Sociologist Mikhail Anipkin presents a case-study of the political career of a high-ranking regional party leader, Alexander Anipkin, the author's father. The book explores political turbulence in the late Soviet Union with the focus on Perestroika (reconstruction), 1985-1991. The author views those momentous processes through the political activity of the book's key figure, who enthusiastically supported Perestroika and promoted and defended reforms in the Communist Party despite impediments by his fellow functionaries. At the core are the revolutionary events that took place in Volgograd, in the south of European Russia, in the winter of 1990. These resulted in the overthrow of the whole leadership of the Volgograd Region. The author argues that the interests of the younger generation of party functionaries came together with the popular movement in the USSR in 1989-1991 and created a unique situation, which unintentionally resulted in the collapse of the Soviet Union. The book also contains a personal dimension and reveals many interesting details of the life of the high-ranking Soviet Party nomenklatura.

This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -The present research seeks to investigate the problem of integration in power relations from a sociological viewpoint, using the Volgograd Region of the Russian Federation as an example. The author draws up a system of sociological categories, which are tested by means of quantitative and qualitative empirical research, undertaken in the Volgograd Region. Moral and organisational values are taken as indicators of social and system integration respectively. Examining those values allows us to make a final conclusion about an obvious trend towards social integration while system integration of power relations remains underdeveloped in the Russian Federation. The book contains a detailed description of the system theory in sociology with a focus of the idea of equilibrium. The text also contains a lot of data, elicited on the territory of the Volgograd Region of Russia with a direct reference to the regional scope. The author is talking about those issues which are at the centre of contemporary political discussion in Russia. The book should be useful to those interested in Russian regional studies. 228 pp. Englisch.
