Anlass dieser Abhandlung ist Humboldts Kritik an Schiller, dieser habe bei all seinem Nachdenken über die Kraft des Schà nen nicht seines eigenen Mediums der Sprache gedacht. Mit dem Konzept "lebendiger Sprache" weist die Autorin bei Schiller ein Sprachverständnis nach, welches zeigt, dass die Anthropologie des ganzen Menschen auch in Bezug auf die Ordnungsmuster von Sprache strukturierend wirksam ist. Da Sprache in diesem Sinn nach Schiller die Bestimmungen des Schà nen erfüllt, hat dies grundlegende Folgen für die Bedeutung der Sprache für den Menschen.
