An important personal narrative of a boy who enlists to fight in the Civl War, a fairly uncommon title. Written anonymously, but per WorldCat and LoC, written by George Monroe Roger (b. 1846). This is a Very Good copy of the First Edition. Brown cloth binding with light ruling; titles on spine and front cover are gilt. Clean text; 193 pages. Illustrated by J.H. Fry. An exceptionally clean textblock, but the binding does show a bit of wear: mild bumping, rubbing to the head and foot of the spine, and a small tear on the rear cover. The front endpapers have a contemporary (1883) signature and some penciled notes from a later hand. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. Illus. by J.H.
