Ohne Nr. - Karte ist nicht gelaufen, Kanten etw. berieben. - Fulda, (1862 - 1939 ), studierte seit 1880 Germanistik und Philosophie an den Universitäten Heidelberg, Berlin und Leipzig. Er wurde 1883 in Heidelberg promoviert und gab die Textsammlung Die Gegner der zweiten schlesischen Schule (1883) heraus. Seit 1884 in München ansässig, stand er mit Paul Heyse, Max Bernstein, Michael Georg Conrad, Hermann von Lingg und Josef Kainz in Verbindung. 1888-94 und seit 1896 lebte Fulda in Berlin und war zweiter Präsident der "Freien Bühne". Er schrieb Bühnenstücke (u.a. Der Talisman, 1893; Des Esels Schatten, 1921), Gedichte sowie Essays (Aus der Werkstatt, 1904) und übersetzte Beaumarchais, Cavalotti, Rostand und Molière. 1900 wandte er sich zusammen mit Hermann Sudermann und Heyse im Goethebund gegen die Lex Heinze. 1906 und 1913 unternahm er Vortragsreisen in den USA. 1923-28 war er erster Präsident des deutschen PEN-Zentrums, 1926 zweiter Vorsitzender der Sektion für Dichtkunst in der Preußischen Akademie der Künste, aus der er 1933 ausgeschlossen wurde. Er beging 1939 Selbstmord. (DBE).
