John George Edward Henry Douglas Sutherland Campbell, 9th and 2nd Duke of Argyll…, 1845-1914, usually better known by the courtesy title Marquess of Lorne, by which he was known between 1847 and 1900, was a British nobleman who was Governor General of Canada from 1878 to 1883. he was the husband of Princess Louise, fourth daughter of Queen Victoria. He was the first president of "The Rangers Football Club", thanks to his Argyll ties to the original founders of the football club. Size is 175mm x 115mm. Condition is good. Light folding creases. Writing from Kensington, Argyll thanks his correspondent for allowing him to see a copy of an "interesting letter", which he returns. The Duke writes: "Thanks for letting me s…ee copy of interesting letter which I return." A short social note from the Scottish peer and head of the Campbell family. Folded as sent with light handling wear. Very good condition overall.
