Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. Neuware - The surviving documents from the Synod of Hochst are a series of brief Latin letters. They reveal a deep anxiety caused by apostolic missions but find solace in conscience. Aribo of Mainz entrusts a secret to a trusted recipient, hoping to alleviate sorrow through compassion and shared counsel. The letters discuss the unjust interdiction of the author's pallium honor, praises the kindness of a bishop, and stresses the value of attending a forthcoming council near Mainz. Emphasizing the tradition of holding general councils twice yearly, the author laments the Church's decline from former vitality and calls for renewed unity and adherence to ancient ecclesiastical precepts. The letter concludes by soliciting advice on dealing with the apostolic legation and underscores collective prayer and support among church dignitaries.…

Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. Neuware - In 1023, Archbishop Aribo of Mainz convened a synod at Salegunstadt with several bishops and abbots to resolve discrepancies in ecclesiastical customs and promote harmony within the Church. The council established rules on abstinence from meat and dairy during specified periods, regulations for the four seasonal fasts, prohibitions on marriage during certain liturgical seasons, and restrictions on priests celebrating Mass after drinking or exceeding three Masses per day. It also forbade carrying swords into churches (except by royalty), improper use of the corporal to extinguish fires, and disorderly conduct in church spaces. The synod addressed issues of consanguinity in marriage, limited certain liturgical practices, and forbade laity from erecting buildings in church atriums, all aimed at maintaining ecclesiastical discipline and unity.…

Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book presents an account of the life and martyrdom of Haimhrammi, a revered Christian martyr of the 8th century. As one of the earliest written records of the region, the account offers a valuable glimpse into the religious and social landscape of Bavaria during this period. The author, Arbeo, provides rich details about Haimhrammi's journey, his interactions with the local communities, and the circumstances surrounding his martyrdom. Through this detailed narrative, the book sheds light on the challenges faced by early Christian missionaries and the profound impact their faith had on the people they encountered. The insights offered in this book contribute significantly to our understanding of the spread of Christianity in Central Europe during the early Middle Ages.
