Melancolia, desbunde, elegância e uma concepção afiada de onde a canção vai e do que ela pode fazer com a gente e com o país. Alinhando Nelson Gonçalves e Torquato Neto, o poeta capixaba fez das tripas coração, e depois do coração tutano. Foi infiel aos gêneros musicais que experimentou e com os quais brincou. Não se deixou pautar pela indústria fonográfica da época. Pelo contrário, brigou com ela. Mas também brigou consigo mesmo. Parecia não caber no papel que tinham criado para ele, nem no papel que ele mesmo tinha criado para si. Não pôde mais gravar discos, continuou compondo, amando e andando e assim seguiu errático vivendo de pequenas apresentações até que não viveu mais. Dizem que fazia música à frente do tempo. Mas não. O que ele fez foi música do seu tempo, música tão boa que segue abrindo caminhos hoje. Sampaio sempre foi poeta, não só porque canções são poemas, mas porque o cantor-compositor mobilizou, como poucos, o corpo da poesia e do poeta como questão da canção. Este livro reúne muita gente boa que agora, por meio dos versos de livro, lê as canções do grande Sampaio, homenageando-as, mas principalmente fazendo delas uma questão para a poesia de hoje.

O estudo teve origem a partir da observação de que poucos flautistas tem o hábito de utilizar a memorização de obras muscais em suas performances públicas. Como objetivos específicos o estudo procurou investigar características do processo de memorização no âmbito da prática flautística, averiguar quais guias foram mais utilizados na memorização, bem como comparar o processo de memorização do flautista com pesquisas realizadas em outros instrumentos, levantando semelhanças, diferenças e reflexões sobre influências da técnica instrumental no processo de memorização.
