Scarce and desirable Elzevir text by Walaeus a Dutch Calvinist minister, theologian and academic. Walaeus was on good terms with Hugo Grotius with the rise of theological tension between the Remonstrants and Contra-Remonstrants. This work in particular was based on courses at Middleburg school. In defending an eclectic moral philosophy that would nevertheless be acceptable to Christians, he chose the Nicomachean Ethics of Aristotle as a basis, to be corrected, despite a view that Plato was the superior moral philosopher as Aristotle was the better physicist.
