[nice clean book with no discernible wear; the jacket shows a little wear at the corners and spine ends]. INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the author on the half-title page: "Dear Ann / Pay No attention / to anything I say! / Love / Pamela." "This is a venomous book, strictly from the female point of view, strictly from raw scorn for males in general and husbands in particular. It tears the masculine ego to shreds; it lambasts the husband's role in American life; it derides the idea that love and marriage have anything to do with each other, or love and sex, or even sex and marriage." It might be worth noting that the author's 23-year marriage to actor James Mason had ended in divorce in 1964; over the course of the book she discusses quite a few Hollywood marriages and divorces, including (in Chapter 7, "Marriage is a Secret Sorrow"), her own.
