White dust jacket well soiled, 3cm paper loss at both spine ends, tears and creasing at panel edges; dj now presented in a mylar Brodart protector. Reddish-brown cloth, stamped lettering remains bright upon front board but a bit dulled upon spine, mottling at bottom of front board and at top of rear board. Soiling to edges and endpapers; some leaves still uncut at their fore-edges; interior text pages remain clean. Binding is firm. Else a very good copy in a good dust jacket. Author's essays regarding his impressions on the American Midwest in contrast to his experiences in the East where Bostwick had been chief librarian at New York Free Circulating Library and President of the American Library Association before assuming leadership of the Saint Louis Public Library in 1909.…
