Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. Shakespeare's plays are difficult, not only because the vocabulary and style are unfamiliar, but because he went far beyond simply telling a story. He developed characters that are fully human and his plays express ideas about human nature, society and man's place in the universe that are a…s relevant today as they were when he wrote them. This book guides the reader through twenty of the plays by gathering together and integrating the interpretations of some of the leading Shakespearean scholars into a coherent discussion. Each chapter progresses sequentially through a single play, focusing on passages that are either particularly beautiful or that are important in bringing out Shakespeare's meaning. The sequential approach makes it convenient for a reader to consider possible interpretations of the text as he or she reads it. Shipping may be from our Sydney, NSW warehouse or from our UK or US warehouse, depending on stock availability.

Aggiungi al carrelloVintage double weight satin-finish portrait photograph from the successful 1950 Broadway musical, showing actor Boris Karloff in costume as Captain Hook. With the stamps of Imperial Theatre and the "Cleveland Press" on the verso. Based on J.M. Barrie's classic 1904 play. The musical opened on April 24, 1950, at the Imperial Thea…tre, running through September 30, 1950, and later traveling to the St. James Theatre, where it ran from October 2, 1950, through January 27, 1951. Disney's animated adaptation would be released two years later, in 1953. Although composer Leonard Bernstein wrote a complete score for the musical, the play was ultimately staged with only five songs as a result of the limited vocal ranges of the lead actors. Bernstein's complete score was released in 2005 after decades of research by conductor Alexander Frey, and was staged in its entirety in 2008, at the Santa Barbara Theater in California. 8 x 10 inches. Near Fine.
