For the new generation Tulenkantajat modernist movement became a cult, which channeled new artistic trends into Finland - expressionism, futurism, dadaism, surrealism. Also group inspired by oriental themes, jazz, city, industry life and hedonism, introduces new themes into Finnish-language poetry (reverence for life, the brotherhood of mankind), a new world of subject matter (the city, technology, distant lands). Their more literary innovations signified an attempt to shed regular meter (rhythmic structure of a verse). The group published their own magazine.
