The Gilcrease Museum was founded in 1949 as a private museum by Tulsa oilman Thomas Gilcrease (1890-1962), who amassed the nation's most comprehensive collection of art of the American West, as well as major collections of historical documents and artifacts. American art historian Richard Saunders once called Gilcrease Museum a kind of Smithsonian Institution of the American West. Although a powerful tribute, Saunders's comment only hints at the museum's ongoing impact and influence. There are fifteen black and white glossy photographs of Remington and Russell's works. This is the year book for the Taft Middle School, Albuquerque New Mexico. There are photographs and names of all students, sixth, seventh, and eighth grades. Four pages devoted to the faculty and administration. Lots of photographs of the various student activities. Terry Hannon was the Principal and Maribell Hardwick and Joe Vigil the Assistant Principals. Hoopes, Duran and Matthews were the Counselors. Office staffers were Serna, Padilla, Gallegos and Sierra plus 54 teachers. Activities were Student Council, Golden T Honor Club, The Trojan Band, Speech, Bowling, The Orchestra of Chorus, Trojan Drill Team, Special Olympics, Yearbook, and Super Scientific Studies.

Condizione: Very good. - Typed letter filling an 8-1/2 inch high by 5-1/2 inch wide sheet of Metropolitan Opera letterhead with Robinson's name printed at the top. Boldly signed "Francis Robinson". The top left corner of the letter is slightly creased. Near fine. Robinson writes to Bruce Kellner of Hartwick College, Oneonta, NY, arranging a time when they can meet at the Met. "It will be a pleasure to talk to you about Mr. Van Vechten. Saturday is actually a better day for me than Friday because Friday we have a dress rehearsal of ADRIANA LECOUVREUR." Kellner was a Van Vechten scholar, the author of "Carl Van Vechten and the Irreverent Decades" [1968].Francis Robinson [1910-1980] who was photographed by Carl Van Vechten, was the longtime assistant manager of the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. He was nicknamed "Mr. Met".

In good condition, on aged paper, with some discoloration to the reverse of the second leaf. Printed in red at the head of the first page: 'THIS REPORT IS STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL. | SUBSCRIBERS ARE REQUESTED NOT TO GIVE IT, OR COPIES, OR EXTRACTS THEREFROM, OR OTHER COMMUNICATIONS FROM THIS OFFICE TO APPLICANTS - IMPROPER USE HAVING BEEN MADE OF THEM.' Beneath this there follow ten lines printed in black, the first four regarding the 'increased Business attending the Begging Letter Department', and the other six giving two 'Resolutions of the Board'. The report itself is written out in manuscript, and signed at the end 'Exd. R Ferguson' ('the Visitor' referred to in the document); it is also signed in type by Wood. The first entry reads: '128,276 | Jane Johnson, | 4 Victoria Place, Salisbury Street, | Lisson Grove. | "On calling at the address given, as above, the Visitor was informed that the Applicant was dead & buried."' The fourth entry: '128,280 | Elizabeth Compton, | 7 Princess Street, Lisson Grove. | "The Applicant's Character is favorably spoken of, but her Case is one of hopeless distress, & can only be effectually relieved b admission into the Workhouse."' And the sixth entry: '128,663 | Margaret Crooke, | 53 Henry Street, St John's Wood. | "It appears from the enquiries that have been made respecting this Case, that both Applicant & her Husband are in work, and capable of maintaining themselves, without appealing for Charity."'.

An attractive item, printed in black, blue and red on both sides of a piece of 40 x 56cm. paper, folded twice to make a 20 x 28cm. packet. In good condition, lightly-aged with a short tape stain on one edge. Four black and white photographs: two showing a smiling Reginald Maudling, with before/after captions 'At the inauguration of the City Computer Centre, the Chancellor of the Exchequer presses the button and starts the Reader/Sorter . . .' and '. . . one second later'; the third photograph captioned 'The Computer room at 41 Lothbury showing the Reader/Sorter in background'; and the fourth 'A section of the West End Computer Centre at New Cavendish Street. Its apparatus and equipment is [sic] identical with that installed at the City Centre.' Brooks's talk, with the Chairman of Westminster Bank Limited D. A. Stirling in the chair, is 'Illustrated by: Film, Slides and a Display of Electronic Equipment'. The talk is at Central Hall, Westminster, at 6.30pm on 9 April 1963: 'Teas will be served from 5 p.m. to 6.15 p.m.' Next to the two photographs of Maudling: 'The Lothbury Computer Centre was inaugurated by the Chancellor of the Exchequer on September 4, 1962. The Centre has since been visited by the Lord Privy Seal and by senior executives from many organisations, amongst them being the following: [list of 37 names, from 'Ab Nordiska Foreningsbanken, Helsinki' to 'Union Bank, Beverley Hills, California']. A surprisingly scarce item, considering the fact that the Lothbury Computer Centre was the first centre in Europe to computerise the handling of cheques, using magnetic encoding marks. No copy in the British Library or on COPAC.
