La fede in Dio e nella ART, lo stigma e la discriminazione per l'HIV, la carenza di personale e di ART, i ritardi e le visite ripetute in ospedale hanno determinato le modalità di accesso ai servizi da parte dei pazienti. È stato identificato un ampio divario tra la gestione ospedaliera dei pazienti con HIV nel Regno Unito e in Nigeria per quanto riguarda la disponibilità di ART, la forza del personale, il numero di pazienti presenti nei giorni di ambulatorio e gli ambulatori settimanali.
