Hardcover. Condizione: Good. No Jacket. First Edition. "A General View of Positivism," translated from the French of Auguste Comte by J. H. Bridges, is presented in a rare Hardcover 1908 edition published by George Routledge & Sons Limited of London. This edition, distinguished by its olive green cloth with a gold design on the spine and gold spine lettering, is a testament to the enduring appeal of Comte's seminal work. The translator, J. H. Bridges, and the introduction author, Frederic Harrison, both contribute to the depth and context of this edition. The book is in Good+ condition and notably lacks a jacket. The covers exhibit some fraying at the spine ends and corners, with a worn upper corner of the front cover that exposes the board underneath the cloth. Despite these signs of wear, the binding remains square and tight, ensuring the structural integrity of this rare edition. Light abrasion to the front flyleaf is noted, along with the presence of a former owner's name and date. While the interior pages are mostly unmarked, there are sparse erased red pencil marks that are barely visible on a few pages, adding to the book's character. To address any concerns about the book's condition during shipment, it will be carefully packaged, and a USPS electronic tracking number will be issued at no additional charge, providing reassurance and transparency throughout the delivery process. For those intrigued by the intellectual depth of Auguste Comte's Positivism and the historical significance of this work, additional information or pictures can be provided upon request.
