Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. What does it look like when God refuses to abandon a soul? The life of Augustine of Hippo (354-430 AD) answers that question with uncommon honesty and enduring power.Augustine's story continues to speak across centuries because it reflects a struggle many believers still recognize today-a life marked by desire without rest, knowledge without obedience, faith without surrender, and grace that refuses to let go. His journey exposes the inner conflict of the human heart and the relentless mercy of God who pursues, confronts, restores, and transforms.Living Epistles: St. Augustine of Hippo (354-430 AD) is a Christian devotional biography designed to disciple believers through lived testimony rather than abstract theory. Drawing from Augustine's Confessions and anchored firmly in Scripture, this book presents Augustine's life not as distant history, but as a living letter written by God for the Church today.Through a compelling biographical narrative and a carefully structured 40-day devotional journey, readers are guided through themes of repentance, identity, delayed obedience, divided desire, inner conflict, grace, holiness, endurance, spiritual warfare, maturity, and visible fruit. The journey intentionally moves from Augustine's formation to the reader's transformation. The final movement of the book shifts decisively toward the reader. Through subtle, story-driven scenarios and practical acts of obedience, readers are invited to embody what they have learned-examining their own lives as living epistles of Christ, written by the Spirit of the living God and read by the world. This book is written for individual devotion, group study, church discipleship, leadership formation, and missions training. It is designed not merely to inform, but to form-calling believers to a faith that is visible, legible, and fruitful. This is not merely a story.WHO THIS BOOK IS FORThis book is for: Christians hungry for spiritual depth and obedient faithBelievers wrestling with delayed surrender or divided desireChurch leaders discipling others in real-life ChristianityNew believers seeking authentic models of lived faithReaders who want Scripture applied, not merely explainedThis book is written for all believers, trusting the Holy Spirit to personalize truth according to each reader's journey.THE PROMISE OF THIS BOOKThis book promises to: Awaken spiritual hungerConfront half-hearted obedienceStrengthen faith through honest testimonyDeepen love for ScriptureInspire a life that bears visible fruitEquip readers to live as ambassadors of ChristIt does not promise comfort without change. It promises transformation through surrender.Early Readers Feedback: "This book transforms Augustine from a distant theological giant into a fellow pilgrim whose struggles, delays, and surrender feel strikingly modern. It is both sobering and hope-filled.""A rare blend of biography, Scripture, and spiritual formation. This devotional does not merely inform the mind-it presses gently but firmly on the heart.""Living Epistles invites the reader to stop observing faith from a distance and begin living it visibly. Augustine's honesty becomes a doorway to personal repentance and renewal.""This work reminds us that God's greatest testimonies are not polished lives, but yielded ones. Augustine's story is handled with reverence, depth, and pastoral wisdom.""More than a 40-day devotional, this book is a sustained encounter with grace-the kind that pursues, waits, confronts, and ultimately transforms." Mass Market Paperback. Condizione: Good. First Thus. Some have described Augustine's "Confessions" as the first autobiography. It is in Truth the design and road map to modern western civilization. Aurelius Augustine (354-430) had a very good education for the fourth century. He became a Roman Catholic monk. Slightly later he was made a Catholic Priest, and subsequently a Roman Catholic Bishop. Augustine is unquestionably the most brilliant mind of the first millennium A.D. This personal account of his search for truth with his analysis of the emotional side of Christian experience in the face of sin remains a profound core to understanding the impact of Christianity. Any book still in print after approx. 1,700 years simply has to be good. Edward Bouverie Pusey (1800-1882) was an English churchman, for more than fifty years Regius Professor of Hebrew at the University of Oxford. He was one of the leading figures in the Oxford Movement, which transformed the practices of Anglican worship closer to the practices of the Roman Catholic Church. Reverend Harold Charles Gardiner, S.J. (1904-1969) was literary editor of the monthly magazine "America, A Jesuit Review," from 1940 to 1962. Great study copy. A literary masterpiece produced at an affordable price for the mass market. Paperback which looks read but not studied. Single crease in spine. Shelf wear with cup mark on front cover. Copyright 1951. Promoted as a Cardinal Edition. Front cover design by Charles Skaggs. Contains all 13 books of the original. This copy from 7th printing in April, 1956. Cardinal catalog: C-27.
