Backstrip faded, hinges cracked, pages clean, a good copy inscribed by the author. § First edition, reverently inscribed by the author to Celia Clark, a member of one of San Francisco's founding… families, wife of Charles Clark, son of the Copper King (and thus sister-in-law of the library founder William Andrews Clark Jr.). The inscription reads "For Celia Clark this, my own personal copy, is inscribed with affection and humility by her devoted Joseph Auslander." Joseph Auslander (1897-1965), American poet, was the Poet Laureate Consultant in English Poetry for the Library of Congress from 1937 to 1941.
