The colophon simply describes this work as "39 four-letter poems," but the four-letter words constituting the poems, arranged three words to a spread, are printed with just the vowels (in reverse) on the left-hand side and the consonants on the right. When the page is turned, the letters combine, and the words can only then be read, through the page. An ingenious and almost magical design, in which the semi-transparency of the lightweight paper is taken as an opportunity rather than a defect. Elegantly simple, and yet producing an intriguingly complex series of abstract visual poems as the letters separate and reconnect.
