At just 13 years old, Richard and Edward Tingey came to New Zealand with their family aboard the Tyburnia, part of the Albertland Settlement Scheme. The land they were given was tough and remote, but the boys were resourceful. Within five years, they moved to Whanganui and started a painting business. That small operation grew into R & E Tingey & Co Ltd, a nationwide company dealing in paint, glass, and wallpaper. The book follows their journey from humble beginnings to commercial success. It shows how the brothers married, raised large families, and expanded their business across New Zealand. It also explores how politics, local events, and national developments shaped their decisions and the company's growth. Signed by Author(s).
