The major issue is that the binding is cracked in a couple places and one of the pages at the front is detached, though still present. Text and images are unmarked; pages are bright, though the page edges are age… toned and foxed. There is white out in the upper corner of the first free end page. Covers show some light wear around the corners and at the head and base of the spine. The spine is a little faded. Text is in English and Brazilian Portuguese.

Vs., mehrere Unterstreichungen und kl. Anmerkungen in Rotstift. Erstausgabe. Mit Initialen des österreichischen Künstlers Axel Leskoschek (1889 - 1976)…. Mit dem Doktordiplom hat er 1917 seine juristische Ausbildung abgeschlossen und danach an der Landeskunstschule in Graz und an der Grafischen Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt in Wien studiert. Seine Holzschnitte zu den "Legenden des hl. Franziskus" 1920 begründen eine Reihe von Illustrationen zur Weltliteratur. Er war 1923 Mitbegründer der Grazer Sezession, politischer Häftling in Wöllersdorf 1936, ging dann in die Schweiz und war später 8 Jahre lang Professor an der Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Rio de Janeiro. Ab 1948 war er in Wien als Maler, Grafiker und Kunstkritiker tätig. Zahlreiche Holzschnitte, Einbandentwürfe zu Büchern und Öbilder aus Südamerika und Südfrankreich sowie Kupferstiche und Lithographien geben Zeugnis von seinem reichen Schaffen.- Joseph Rupert Rudolf Marx (1882 in Graz -1964) bedeutender österreichischer Komponist, Musikpädagoge und Kritiker. Im Zweiten Weltkrieg war Marx - nun aller seiner vorherigen Ämter enthoben - in Wien geblieben und hatte sich mit der ihm noch verbliebenen Stellung als bekannter Komponist und gern gesehener Redner für die "Rettung der untergehenden Musikkultur", wie er es bezeichnete, eingesetzt und im Rahmen dessen einige Reden über die Musik im NS-Staat gehalten. Eines von 70 handnumerierten Exemplaren auf Bütten (gesamt 100), signiert vom Verfasser, geb. 1927, mit dessen eigenhändiger Widmung an die Witwe des Künstlers im Erschein…ungsjahr. Erster Druck dieser Illustrationen, die bereits 1926 gestochen und geschnitten worden waren. Die Folge umfaßte ursprünglich 10 Blätter mit dem Titel "10 Scherze" und wurde erst im Nachlaß des Künstlers (1889-1976) entdeckt. Ein Holzschnitt ging verloren, zwei weitere waren beschädigt, wurden hier jedoch aufgenommen. Mit ungewöhnlich expliziten, phantastischen Sexualdarstellungen, im Werk des Künstlers ungewöhnlich.
