Damit ist der Rorschach-Test eng mit der Entstehung und Entwicklung der Ethnopsychoanalyse verbunden. Das Buch zeichnet nach, wie bereits der Erfinder des Tests Hermann Rorschach für einen Einsatz seiner Bildtafeln in Afrika plädierte. Im Zentrum des Buches stehen die globalen Reisen des Rorschach-Tests im Gepäck von Margaret Mead, Manfred Bleuler, Goldy Parin-Matthéy und anderen Forscher:innen in die Südsee, nach Kanada und nach Afrika. Der Rorschach-Test fungierte hierbei als ein zentrales epistemisches Ding (Hans-Jörg Rheinberger), das eine ungeheure Deutungsmacht und geradezu Unentrinnbarkeit entfaltete: So wird anhand von bislang kaum erforschten Archivalien die - bisweilen stark abwehrende - Reaktion von Testpersonen rekonstruiert, die nicht etwa zu einer Diskreditierung und Verwerfung des Tests im ethnologischen Feld führte, sondern geradezu im Gegenteil als eine Bestätigung seiner Funktionalität und Bedeutung für die psychoanalytische Erforschung »fremder« Menschen angesehen wurde. -- Provided by publisher.
