It could be that previously guarded diplomatic archives in Peking and Tokyo became available in the aftermath of WW II. It could also be that Romanov reworked his formidable presentation of Tsarist misadventures to accomodate the USSR's postwar surge to eminence in the Far East. 695 pages, with 3-part Ukazatel'; [Errata] is tipped in at rear.
