Design: A Zhitomirsky Zhitomirsky was born in 1907 in Rostov-on-Don, in southwestern Russia, a decade before the October Revolution of 1917. He died in the summer of 1993, a year and a half after the dissolution of the USSR. Zhitomirsky had a prolific career in the graphic arts that spanned virtually the entire Soviet era. He rose to genuine prominence during World War II, producing anti-fascist photomontages. The authior In 1938, he was the first head of the science department of the newly created Institute of metallurgy of the USSR Academy of Sciences in Moscow. Subsequently, this institute was named after Alexander Baykov. Condition Near Fine marred only by inscribed number to front cover.Silver gelatin print of blast furnace has a couple of small handling blemishes. Page block tight, bright and clean. Sharp edges and corners.
