Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. MoMA PS1 presents the fourth iteration of Greater New York. Recurring every five years, the exhibition has traditionally showcased the work of emerging artists living and working in the New York metropolitan area. Considering the greater aspect of its title in terms of both geography and time, Greater New York. begins roughly with the moment when MoMA PS1 was founded in 1976 as an alternative venue that took advantage of disused real estate, reaching back to artists who engaged the margins of the city.In conjunction with the exhibition, MoMA PS1 is publishing a series of readers that will be released throughout the run of the exhibition. These short volumes revisit older histories of New York while also inviting speculation about its future, highlighting certain works in the exhibition and engaging a range of subjects including disco, performance anxiety, real estate and newly unearthed historical documents. The series features contributions from Fia Backstroem, Mark Beasley, Gregg Bordowitz, Susan Cianciolo, Douglas Crimp, Catherine Damman, David Grubbs, Angie Keefer, Aidan Koch, Glenn Ligon, Gordon Matta-Clark, Claudia Rankine, Collier Schorr, and Sukhdev Sandhu, concluding with a round-table conversation with exhibition curators Peter Eleey, Douglas Crimp, Thomas J. Lax and Mia Locks. The series is edited by Jocelyn Miller, Curatorial Associate, MoMA PS1. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.…

Soft cover. Condizione: Very Good. Scarce limited edition box set consisting of 32 booklets designed by individual artists housed in slipcase. Edition of 250 copies, quite uncommon and lovely set. 32 booklets counted here, although for whatever reason there is a duplicate of one book - unclear whether that is just an issue with this particular copy, or all of them - the duplicate is that of Janine Gordon, unclear which artist is missing from the set. All 32 booklets in excellent condition, hardly any wear at all, perhpas just the teeniest rubbing and scuffing to glossy covers, but all appear scarcely handled. Box has some light scuffing in parts but is generally clean and attractive and very well intact. Though as mentioned it is unclear which artist book is missing from the set, the artists included are John Armleder, Amy Granat, Mai-Thu Perret, Rich Aldrich, John M Armleder, Fia Backström, Sophie Bernhard, Peter Coffin, Philippe Decrauzat, Vidya Gastaldon & Fabrice Stroun, Gabrielle Giattino & Sara Turner, Janine Gordon, Kim Gordon, Amy Granat, Drew Heitzler & Flora Wiegman, Jutta Koether, Alix Lambert, Balthazar Lovay, Brendan Majewski, Christian Marclay, Mass, John Miller, Thurston Moore, Olivier Mosset, Chuck Nanney, Genesis P-Orridge, Mai-Thu Perret, Carissa Rodriguez, Aura Rosenberg, Michael Scott, John Terhorst, Blair Thurman, John Tremblay, Elizabeth Valdez, Joan Wallace.…

Paperback. Condizione: New. English and Swedish Edition; Fia Backstrom, featured in this catalog from the Nordic Pavilion of the 2011 Venice Biennale, has enjoyed increasing international acclaim in recent years. For more than a decade, she has divided her time between Stockholm and New York, participating in numerous exhibitions including the Whitney Biennial in 2008 and MoMA 2010. Backstrom produces events, environments and projects which challenge our habitual notions of what constitutes an exhibition: its institutional context, the dialogue with the audience, and even the works of art that are presented. Occasionally she incorporates works by other artists into her work. She works with structures around politics, authorship and the capacity of images to generate meaning. Contributions by Goldin + Senneby, Tim Griffin and Cecilia Widenheim. …
