Non vi è indicazione di data ma, sicuramente, può essere datato intorno alla metà dell'800 in quanto la prima edizione di quest'opera era stata pubblicata dal Bureau du Journal d'agriculture pratique (che diventerà noto come la Librairie agricole de la Maison rustique) e stampata dall'Imprimerie de Decourchant tra il 1834 e il 1836 in 4 volumi. L'esemplare in vendita appartiene sicuramente ad un'edizione successiva in quanto il piano dell'opera prevedeva 5 volumi (Tomo I: Agriculture proprement dite, Tomo II: Cultures industrielles et animaux domestiques, Tomo III: Arts agricoles, Tomo IV: Agriculture forestière, Législation et Administration rurale, Tomo V: Horticulture, travaux du mois pour cheque culture speciale). Come si può notare, quindi, ciascun volume, pur appartenendo ad un piano enciclopedico, tratta ed esaurisce uno specifico argomento e, quindi, può essere considerato come monografico. L'opera rappresenta il massimo vertice tecnologico dell'era pre-industriale, raccogliendo tutte le conoscenze pratiche necessarie per la gestione autonoma di una tenuta rurale prima dell'avvento della motorizzazione e della chimica moderna. E' stata redatta da un collettivo di eminenti agronomi, scienziati e professionisti francesi sotto la direzione di figure chiave come il Dr. Jacques Alexandre Bixio, Charles-François Bailly de Merlieux, François Malepeyre. Il Tomo II si concentra su due grandi aree della vita agricola e rurale: le colture industriali (concentrandosi sulle piante tessili come il lino, canapa e cotone, sulle piante da zucchero, come la barbabietola, su quelle oleaggiose, sulle piante aromatiche utilizzate per la distillazione e per i profumi, e su altre colture da reddito come il tabacco e le piante tintorie) e gli animali domestici (con particolare riguardo all'anatomia e alla veterinaria). Stato di conservazione: I bordi dei piatti si presentano leggermente consumati, evidenti abrasioni del rivestimento in carta dei piatti, tracce lasciate, presumibilmente, dalla colla di una vecchia etichetta (rimossa) sul margine superiore sinistro del piatto anteriore, ingiallimenti sulle pagine interne,una parola scritta a penna sul bordo bianco verticale di pagina 63 ma, nel complesso, un buon esemplare. Nessuna firma d'appartenenza, timbro, sottolineatura, annotazione (a parte la parola segnalata prima) o altro segno nel testo. Rilegatura muta in cartone rigido con dorso in pelle. Numerose le incisioni, in nero, nel testo, raffiguranti le varie piante e colture e i vari animali (ampio spazio è dato al cavallo). Diverse anche le tabelle in nero nel testo. Francese.
