The text is in German, and the book was issued by the Paris branch of the publishing house of the Deutsche Arbeitsfront (the German Labour Front), evidently for German readers in occupied France. It is both a fine Paris photo book and a document of that period. The plates are by French photographer Emmanuel Boudot-Lamotte and are printed in rich photogravure (Kupfertiefdruck) by E. Desfosses-Neogravure of Paris. They take the reader through the Seine and its bridges, the boulevards, the monuments and churches, and the life of the city's streets and gardens.
