Inscribee is Anniston, Alabama physician Dr. Gaston Owen McGinnis (1928-2015) who graduated from the Medical College of Alabama in Birmingham (now UAB) in 1954. Renowned Alabama medical researcher Dr. Seale Harris (1870-1957) started studying diabetes and its treatment in the 1920s while involved in the Birmingham, Alabama medical community and serving on the faculty at the city's Medical College of Alabama.
