Im nachfolgenden theoretischen Rahmen werden grundlegende Inhalte für die vorliegende Bachelorarbeit vorgestellt. Hierbei wie auf Definitionen von wichtigen Begriffen wie Kompetenzen, Konstruktivismus sowie selbstgesteuertes und kooperatives Lernen eingegangen. Die beiden Konzepte Skills Lab und problemorientiertes Lernen sowie die wichtigen Rollen der Dozierenden und der Teilnehmenden werden ebenfalls im Verlauf beschrieben.
