Barbara (M.D., F.A.P.A.) was a prominent psychiatrist and psychoanalyst who specialized in the psychodynamic understanding and treatment of stuttering. A former stutterer himself, his work is foundational in shifting the focus from the physical symptom of stuttering to the underlying personality and emotional structure of the individual.Dominick A. Barbara (M.D., F.A.P.A.) was a prominent psychiatrist and psychoanalyst who specialized in the psychodynamic understanding and treatment of stuttering. A former stutterer himself, his work is foundational in shifting the focus from the physical symptom of stuttering to the underlying personality and emotional structure of the individual.
