Hardcover. Condizione: Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Fine. Antonio Frasconi (illustratore). 1st Edition. This novella started out as a story originally published in France in 1872 (one of Sand's last published works) and in English in 1930 in a volume called "Tales of a Grandmother". Here, Barbara Wersba used the original English translation by Margaret Bloom, but retells the tale by editing and simplifying it. She also supplies a Preface. The illustrations (four full page, one repeated on the jacket) are by the Uruguayan-America (born in Argentina of Italian parents) woodcut artist, Antonio Frasconi. There is a slight bump to one top corner, but a fine copy in a fine dust jacket looking as good as new under the acetate. MC.
