Since 1990, the Association of Texas Photography Instructors has worked with students and with instructors in the more than 1,700 high schools in the state, as well as numerous middle schools, to achieve a higher quality of knowledge and teaching of photography. The 2011 ATPI Photo Contest had more than 6,100 entries from throughout the state as well as from Arizona, California, Kansas, Oklahoma and New York.
