Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book analyzes the history and implementation of chemical solutions to prevent sap stain in lumber. As a major source of loss for the southern pine industry in the early 20th century, sap stains caused by fungi growth during seasoning periods could reduce the value of lumber by as much as $2 per thousand square feet. The author takes an in-depth look at various chemical treatments tested to combat this problem, with a special focus on the effectiveness of sodium bicarbonate solutions. The author also explores the impact of chemical treatments on the strength and flammability of the wood. The book concludes with a discussion on the significance of open piling techniques for faster and more effective seasoning of lumber. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
