Sheet Music. Condizione: Fine. A BROWN BIRD SINGING (Song) Words by Royden Barrie Music by Haydn Wood Chappell & Co. Ltd., London 1922 5pp Sheet Music. Haydn Wood (25 March 1882 -11 March 1959) was a 20th century English composer and a respected violinist. Haydn Wood was a prolific composer of orchestral music, including 15 suites, 9 rhapsodies, 8 overtures, 3 concertante pieces and nearly 50 other assorted works, including 180 individual songs. His orchestral pieces were primarily of the "light music" style; a well known piece of his is the three-movement Fantasy-Concerto. Another is his London Landmarks Suite, particularly "Horse Guards, Whitehall". In 1916, he composed the popular song "Roses of Picardy" for his wife. After a time writing popular music, Wood began to write musical comedy; his best-known piece of this genre is the musical play Tina. The tone poem Mannin Veen (Manx for "Dear Isle of Man") was based on four Manx folk tunes, and is one of two works written originally for wind band by Wood. The work is also occasionally performed in its orchestral version. This piece of music came from a substantial library amassed by Maud Beerbohm Tree and later added to by her daughters Viola (1884-1938 and Felicity (1894-1978) Helen Maud Holt (5 October 1863 - 7 August 1937), professionally known as Mrs Beerbohm Tree and later Lady Tree, was an English actress. She was the wife of the actor Herbert Beerbohm Tree and the mother of Viola Tree, Felicity Tree and Iris Tree. After early stage appearances beginning in 1883, Mrs Tree married and established a theatrical partnership with her husband, in which they appeared in revivals of classic plays and productions of new plays, first at the Theatre Royal, Haymarket and then at Her Majesty's Theatre. Her performances in serious roles were well received, but she was most celebrated for her work in comedy, from Shakespeare to new works by Wilde and others. After her husband's death in 1917, Lady Tree continued to act steadily for almost two decades more until towards the end of her life, in plays and some films, making her last stage appearance in 1935. This is just one of a great many pieces of music and scores that I am selling from this collection on this site. Ref SM3 Size: 5pp.…

Love, though the hours of day sadness of heart may bring, when twilight comes again sorrows take wing. For when the dusk of dreams comes with the falling dew, bird songs at eventide call me, call me to you."
