Aggiungi al carrelloCouverture rigide. Condizione: Bon. Edition originale. ¶ Composite volume bringing together three Bonapartist polemical pamphlets, all published in Paris in 1827 in response to Sir Walter Scott's (1771-1832) monumental Life of Napoleon Buonaparte. The collection includes: the Letter from Sir Walter Scott and Reply of General Gourgaud (Ambroise Dupont), with notes and supporting documents; the Refutation of Captain Maitland's Account of Napoleon's boarding the Bellerophon on 15 July 1815, drafted by lawyer Felix Barthe (1795-1863) using Las Cases's (1766-1842) documents and augmented with Napoleon's original will, with a vignette of Napoleon at Saint Helena; and the Refutation of the Life of Napoleon by Sir Walter Scott, by General G***, a thinly veiled publication by General Gaspard Gourgaud (1783-1852), Napoleon's companion at Saint Helena. Bound together in contemporary hardcovers, ornamental gilt roll at foot, title "REFUTATIONS" in gilt letters. First editions. The assembly of these three complementary texts under a single binder's title reflects a deliberate collecting strategy, likely contemporary with publication. An uncommon grouping of the three original editions in a period binding.
