This song is from the first of eight seasons of the Follies produced at the height of an actors' strike as a nonunion production. The Follies was a progenitor of Off Broadway theatre and a rival of the Ziegfeld Follies. Female Impersonation, Blackface, Dance and Silent Interludes based upon Oscar Wilde & Poe were mainstays of the Follies.
