Byl sluchaczem Wyzszej Szkoly Handlowej Leopolda Kronenberga. Debiutowal jako felietonista w 1898 w prasie lodzkiej. W latach 1895-1901 prowadzil w Lodzi Salon Artystyczny, w 1897 ozenil sie z Mieczyslawa Trapszowna (pozniejsza aktorka Mieczyslawa Cwiklinska, malzenstwo trwalo 14 miesiecy). W 1901 wyjechal na studia malarskie do Paryza, gdzie wspolpracowal glownie z prasa warszawska nadsylajac opowiadania, nowele i szkice o tematyce paryskiej. Po dluzszym pobycie w Paryzu zamieszkal w Warszawie, a potem w Brwinowie. Jego najbardziej znane utwory to zbior nowel "Slabe serca" (1907) i "Zle miasto. Obrazy z 1907 r." (wyd. osobne 1911) bedaca sugestywnym opisem Lodzi w czasie rewolucji 1905 roku. W 1928 otrzymal nagrode im. Elizy Orzeszkowej, a w 1935 zostal odznaczony Zlotym wawrzynem Akademickim PAL; zob.
