The nonlinear hysteresis behavior prevents the platforms from providing the desired highly precise motion in open loop operation. The PID and fuzzy control approaches are simulated using Matlab/Simulink to control a single axis nanopositioner. The experimental work is implemented using LabVIEW software in two configurations: DAQ to verify the developed algorithms and I/O FPGA card to emulate the embedded control environment. Simulation and experimental results affirmed that the developed fuzzy controller has a superior performance rather than PID controller. This book can help the engineers and researchers who are working in nanopositioning control to understand and develop effectively their applications.
