Softcover. Condizione: Near Fine. First edition. Quarto. [36]pp. Illustrated by the author. Stapled illustrated wrappers. Modest age-toning on wrappers else very near fine. History of the Division's two years in Italy, with every event herein described nicely illustrated with vignettes by the author. More than half of Baskin's 500-man unit perished at Monte Cassino, where he was injured; he returned to his unit and was injured again at the landing at Anzio. After the War he participated heavily in the smuggling of European Jews into Palestine, with the establishment of Israel, and had a distinguished military career in the Israeli Army in several conflicts there (1956 War, Israeli War of Independence, The Six-Day War, and the Yom Kippur War). He was also a noted artist, particularly of war imagery. Very scarce. *OCLC* locates four copies over two records (Library of Congress, U.S. Army War College, University of Delaware, and the University of Tel Aviv).
