Hardcover. W.B. Saunders Company. 1965. Hardcover (likely issued without dust jacket). Quarto - large format. Very good. Book is clean, with a small, double-ring binding (30 rings in all). There are no tears in any part of the pages through which the rings protrude. A name has been marked out at top front endpaper. Gertrude Beard, one of the two authors, was a nurse who became technical director of Northwestern University's new school of physical therapy. The second author, Elizabeth C. Wood, was associate professor of physical medicine, and educational administrator in programs in physical therapy, also at Northwestern University Medical School. This book describes a very definitive and clinical aspect of massage as it pertains to health and healing. It may be noted that this book predates the numerous 'new age' type of massage books which began to emerge in the late 1960's. Extensively illustrated with black and white photographs. Indexed, with two-page bibliography. 163 pages.
