Ausgangspunkt war die Frage, warum Frauen in der Mathematik immer noch in wesentlich geringerem Maße als Männer eine Promotion oder Habilitation anstreben. Die Ergebnisse der quantitativ orientierten Fragebogenuntersuchung mit mehr als 700 TeilnehmerInnen werden nach Geschlecht und den Studiengängen Diplom und Lehramt an Gymnasien differenziert dargestellt. Weitere Analysen zeigen die Abhängigkeiten zwischen einzelnen Komponenten der subjektiven Einstellungen auf sowie ihren Einfluss auf eine positive Haltung zu einer möglichen Promotion. Sowohl in dieser quantitativen Studie wie auch in den anschließend durchgeführten qualitativ orientierten Interviews zeigt sich, dass studien- und fachspezifische Ursachen für die negative Vorentscheidung über eine Promotion schon relativ früh im Studium wirksam sind. Studentinnen streben demnach nach realistischen beruflichen Zielen, die Vereinbarkeitsfrage bleibt im Hintergrund. 294 pp. Deutsch.
