unbound. 1 x 2.75 inches, no place, no date, circa 1865. Signed: "Yours truly, S. B. Maxey." Glue staining on the back; very good(+) condition. Maxey was born in Kentucky and attended West Point before resettling in Texas and eventually becoming a Major General for the Confederacy during the Civil War. Among other battles, he fought in Vicksburg and Corinth, and received a presidential pardon after the war thanks to a personal appeal made to his former West Point classmate Ulysses S. Grant.
