Minor shelf wear, binding tight, pages clean and unmarked.These memoirs are a true account of the activities of an officer who spent over 20 years of an almost 40 year association with the CIA, working in its clandestine service on the Cuban problem. He was stationed in Cuba during the last year of the Batista Government and the first two years of the Castro Regime when we broke relations. Thereafter, for most of the rest of his career as a staffer and for 15 years as an active retiree he handled a large variety of Cuban operations described in the text. Portions have been censored by CIA Security, but the main story is pretty much intact. After a stint as a Naval Intelligence Officer in World War II, the officer remained in the Naval Reserve until retirement, but his main interest turned to Latin America with the CIA. His special interest in Cuba began when he served as an Attaché at the Havana embassy during the last year of the Batista Government and the first 2 years of the Castro Regime. Though subsequently assigned to other Latin American posts, his interest in Cuba continued even after retirement from the CIA where he continued to work as a consultant, largely on Cuba, in Miami, Honduras and El Salvador until 1995. The author was born in Brooklyn and graduated from Brooklyn College-, the School of International Affairs, Columbia University, and the Navy School of Oriental Languages (Japanese).
